On October 7, 2024, as the Photonics Department, we had the honor of hosting Prof. Dr. F. Ömer İlday from Ruhr University, one of the leading figures in the field of lasers. In his lecture titled “Modelocking vs. Laser-Induced Patterns: A Tale of Two Self-Organized Phenomena,” held at the Integrated Research Center, Prof. İlday delved into and compared the self-organization processes of modelocking and laser-induced patterns over the course of two hours.
The event attracted nearly 90 registered participants, the majority of whom were IZTECH students, particularly those aspiring to pursue careers in light science and engineering. Prof. İlday’s interdisciplinary research and pioneering work in this field left a significant impression on the attendees, who actively contributed to the discussion with their questions at the end of the session.
This event marked another successful gathering in the IZTECH Photonics Department’s series of distinguished international scientists, expanding the horizons of our students.
