The Photonics Department of İzmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) participated in the High School Science Camp on Entrepreneurship and Innovation, held from July 1-12, 2024, and achieved great success. During the camp, lectures given by Research Assistant Metin Tan from the IZTECH Photonics Department introduced high school students to the fundamental principles and applications of photonic science.

At the end of the camp, the participating students had the opportunity to develop their own projects. Among the projects, which were conducted in a competition format, the project that was selected as the winner by the jury’s votes stood out for both its creativity and technical details.

The winning project was based on the design of a new sensor in the field of laser seismology, and the advanced knowledge and skills demonstrated by the students in this area received high praise from the jury, earning them the first place award.

As the IZTECH Photonics Department, we will continue to support young people who are passionate about science and technology. Such events greatly contribute to the discovery of young talents and the enhancement of their interest in science.
