We celebrated World Photonics Day with the ‘Talks on Photonics Science and Technologies @IZTECH’ event that we organized on October 23-24.

The event began with opening speeches from our Photonics Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Canan Varlıklı, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran, and the President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal.

On the first day, Anvar Zakhidov, Viviana Clavería, Deepak Jain, Santosh Kumar, Mohammed Elamassie, and Martin Virte delivered presentations. On the second day, Serdar Özçelik, Anirban Dhar, Evren Mutlugün, Hakan Keskin, Serap Yigen, and Alper Ülkü presented their work.

During the two-day event, scientists shared their research on topics related to photonics science and technologies, such as laser applications, fiber optic cables, and display technologies. After each presentation, questions from the audience were addressed, and discussions on current and future photonics technologies took place during the breaks.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the valuable participants who celebrated this special day with us, as well as the undergraduate and graduate students who supported the organization, and our faculty members Prof. Dr. Canan Varlıklı, Assoc.
