As part of the World Photonics Day celebrations, the IZPHOTECH’24 event, organized in collaboration with the Department of Photonics, the Optics and Photonics Society, and the IEEE Photonics Student Chapter, and financially supported by Optica and IEEE Photonics, took place on October 21-22, 2024. The first day of the event began with great energy and high attendance, bringing together academic and industrial stakeholders in the field of Photonics Science and Technology. The opening speeches were delivered by our Department Chair Prof. Dr. Canan Varlıklı and our Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran.

On the first day of the event, which hosted over 250 participants, in-person presentations were given by Dr. Martin Byrdin, Dr. Kıvılcım Yüksel, and Dr. Bengü Özuğur Uysal, while Dr. Tawfique Hasan, Dr. Yiğit Ozan Aydın, Dr. Ayşe Turak, and Dr. Fırat Yaşar presented online.

On the second day, presentations were delivered by Dr. İsa Hatipoğlu, Dr. Mihai Irimia Vladu, Dr. Maria Khrenova, Talha Kuru, Soner Mülayim, and Alper Ülkü.

Additionally, on the second day, awards were presented for the most outstanding works among the poster presentations held throughout the event. Valuable support from OZ Optics and Optica contributed significantly to securing these awards.

Award recipients and their poster titles are as follows:

1. Erşed Akyüz – “Multicomponent Spectroscopic Profiling of Dialysis Fluids for Enhanced Biomedical Inspection”
2. Müge Topçu – “Simultaneous Automatic Reconstruction of Digital Off-axis Holograms”
3. Doğukan Tutar – “Tunable Magnetism in Tetramethylammonium-intercalated MnPS3”
